Presidency Suspends NSA Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah Over World Cup Visa Scandal

The presidency has officially announced the immediate suspension of the Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, following widespread public outcry and intense scrutiny surrounding recurring visa allocation controversies during major international football tournaments.
The decisive executive action comes in the wake of mounting pressure from sports administrators, civil society organizations, and parliamentary oversight committees demanding accountability within sports governance structures. Investigations into the handling of official documentation and travel arrangements for state delegations and supporters have exposed systemic administrative failures that continue to dent Ghana's reputation abroad.

Ministry of Youth and Sports officials confirmed that an independent administrative inquiry has been launched to audit previous tournament travel logs and establish individual liabilities. Stakeholders across the Ghanaian sports ecosystem have largely commended the executive intervention, viewing it as a necessary step toward sweeping structural reforms at the NSA.

The Ministry has promised to release comprehensive guidelines regarding future international tournament coordination to prevent administrative lapses and ensure absolute transparency before upcoming continental and global fixtures.
