NDC Deputy General Secretary Warns Anyidoho Over Disrupting Party Events
In a stern warning, the Deputy General Secretary of Ghana's opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mutapha Gbande, has cautioned the party's former member Koku Anyidoho against disrupting any future NDC programmes.Gbande's comments come in the wake of Anyidoho's recent actions at Asomdwee Park, where he nearly disrupted the 12th-anniversary commemoration of the late President John Evans Atta-Mills on July 24, 2024.
"If I were present at the scene on that day, we would have confronted Anyidoho," Gbande stated firmly. "The NDC prides itself on tolerating dissenting views, but Anyidoho's behavior has crossed a line."
Gbande pointed out the irony of his own previous defense of Anyidoho when the party had decided to suspend him for misconduct. He drew a parallel between Anyidoho's work with the late Prof. Atta-Mills and his own experience working with the late Dr. Kwabena Adjei, the former National Chairman of the NDC.
Furthermore, Gbande criticized President Akufo-Addo's administration for tolerating Anyidoho's demand for an autopsy of the late President Mills, stating that such matters should be reserved for the immediate family.
In a separate development, Bridget Otoo, a prominent Ghanaian journalist, has voiced her strong disapproval of the NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's recent campaign promise to make smartphones more accessible to Ghanaians through a credit system.
The NDC's Deputy General Secretary's stern warning underscores the party's resolve to maintain discipline and unity within its ranks, even as it navigates the complex political landscape in the lead-up to the upcoming elections.
