Fighting Malaria, Lekpongunor Anaisi Joins the Battle

As part of the ongoing nationwide effort to combat malaria in the Greater Accra Region, residents of Lekpongunor Anaisi in the Ningo-Prampram District have become some of the latest beneficiaries of free mosquito net distribution under the National Malaria Control Programme. The distribution exercise took place at the community’s CHPS Compound, where individuals gathered early and patiently queued in lines to receive their long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs). The atmosphere was calm, organized, and filled with appreciation as families received what many described as a "much-needed relief" from the constant threat of mosquito bites and malaria.

Health officials, supported by committed community volunteers, not only handed out the nets but also took time to educate residents on how to properly hang and maintain them. Short demonstrations were conducted on-site, emphasizing the importance of sleeping under the nets every night to ensure maximum protection.

Local health officials highlighted that the goal of the distribution is not just to hand out mosquito nets, but also to empower communities with the knowledge and tools to prevent malaria in the long term.

The initiative is expected to continue across other parts of the district, ensuring that every household receives a net and the needed health education.

This mosquito net distribution in Lekpongunor Anaisi reflects Ghana’s ongoing commitment to fighting malaria and shows how small community-centered actions can contribute to national health goals. The turnout and orderly participation at the CHPS Compound underscored the community’s eagerness to stay healthy and protect their loved ones.
