Orlando Church Pastor Convicted of Murdering Wife in Shocking Workplace Shooting
In a tragic and disturbing case, an Orlando church pastor has been found guilty of killing his estranged wife in a brazen shooting at her workplace.
Sylvester Ofori, who called himself a "prophet" and led a congregation at the Floodgates of Heaven church, was convicted of the murder of his wife, Barbara Tommey, on the grounds of the Navy Federal Credit Union where she worked.
According to authorities, Tommey was at her job when Ofori approached her and opened fire as she tried to run back inside the credit union. Multiple employees and customers witnessed the shocking incident unfold.
Ofori, who had reportedly referred to himself as a "prophet" and demanded that his followers address him as such, had a history of domestic violence against his wife. The couple were estranged at the time of the murder.
"This was a cold-blooded, premeditated act of domestic violence that robbed a woman of her life and devastated her family," said a spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff's Office. "We hope this conviction brings some measure of justice and closure for the victim's loved ones."
Ofori is set to be sentenced in the coming weeks. The case has sent shockwaves through the community and raised questions about the power dynamics within the church leader's congregation.
