Dengue Fever Cases Reported in Ghana's Eastern Region
The announcement comes after the detection of unusual malaria cases that did not respond to standard treatment. A team has been sent to investigate the outbreak.
Health workers have been advised to be on the lookout for suspected Dengue Fever cases, which include fever, headache, muscle pain, and other symptoms. Confirmed cases require lab testing.
The GHS is urging the public to take preventive measures, such as using mosquito nets, eliminating standing water, and proper waste management to reduce mosquito breeding grounds.
"We want to ensure everyone remains vigilant and takes the necessary steps to curb the spread of Dengue Fever in the region," said Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, Director-General of the GHS.
The health authorities are closely monitoring the situation and will provide further updates as the investigation progresses.
