NSMQ2024: Kumasi High School whips Prempeh and OWASS to become Ashanti Regional champions
Kumasi, Ghana - July 09, 2024 - In a stunning upset, Kumasi High School (KUHIS) has emerged victorious in the Ashanti Regional final of the 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz competition, defeating the perennial powerhouses Prempeh College and Opoku Ware School (OWASS).
The final showdown, held, saw KUHIS secure a decisive win, scoring an impressive 46 points, while Prempeh College and OWASS trailed behind with 40 and 36 points, respectively.
This victory marks a historic moment for KUHIS, as it is the first time in recent memory that the school has outperformed the likes of Prempeh College and OWASS, who have long been the dominant forces in the regional and national competitions.
The KUHIS team, led by captain Kofi Mensah, attributed their success to the school's emphasis on fostering a culture of academic excellence, as well as the support and encouragement they received from their teachers and the local community.
"We knew we were up against some of the strongest schools in the region, but we were determined to give it our all," said Mensah. "This victory is a testament to the hard work and passion of our entire team, and we are excited to represent our school and our region at the national level."
